YveYANG Gallery’s booth at Independent will feature new sculptures by Huidi Xiang (b. 1995, Chengdu, China) alongside recent paintings by Allan Rand (b. 1983, Vejle, Denmark). At first glance, the curation appears to emphasize the disparate qualities in their work: Xiang, based in New York, and Rand, now in Australia, come from far flung geographies and different micro-generations. Xiang’s sculptures mine modern politics and pop sensibilities, while Rand’s paintings are soulful and brimming with mystery.
